This customer had shopped with Wellingtons Electricals before but didn’t realise we also offer bespoke kitchen design. After spotting one of our marketing campaigns, they decided to explore Wellingtons Kitchens.
Before coming to us, they had visited national chains like Wren, Kutchenhaus, and Magnet. While these brands offered attractive displays, none could accommodate the unique, custom elements they wanted – especially a low, curved seating area integrated into the island to suit the needs of their household.
With both older and younger generations living together, the family wanted a kitchen that was beautiful, functional, and accessible – without the use of high stools.
From Inspiration to Innovation
The customer’s vision included:
A fully bespoke design with features national chains couldn’t offer
Seating that worked for everyone, avoiding high stools entirely
A colour palette that blended warmth and modernity
Practical solutions to enhance daily use of the kitchen and utility spaces
Bringing the Dream to Life
We created a kitchen that not only met their needs but exceeded expectations. The final design featured a striking Beckermann Santiago Oak and Bronze Steel combination. The Santiago Oak added warmth, while the Bronze Steel introduced a cool, industrial edge. These tones were perfectly balanced by the worktops, which incorporated both warm and cool veining.
To enhance the scheme, we chose contrasting handles – bronze on the dark cupboards and darker handles on the lighter ones – for a subtle but stylish detail.
Originally, the customer considered grey, smokey worktops, but they would have made the space feel cold. Instead, we selected a finish with golden undertones that tied the whole palette together beautifully. The Egyptian Cotton wall colour added a soft warmth to complete the look.
“We knew what we wanted, but none of the big chains could deliver the level of bespoke design we were after. The low, curved seating was non-negotiable for us – it had to work for everyone in the house, from grandparents to children.”
Standout Details That Make the Difference
Bespoke Curved Seating Area: A low, comfortable seating nook built into the island – ideal for all ages and avoiding the impracticality of high stools.
Pocket Doors: A breakfast cupboard with pocket doors, combining sleek design with easy access.
Hidden Charging Points: Integrated charging points within the island to keep technology powered up and surfaces clutter-free.
Custom Cabinetry: Tailor-made units to maximise both style and function throughout the kitchen.
Utility Room: Designed to flow seamlessly from the kitchen, offering practicality with the same high-end finish.
“The team guided us through every choice. Their suggestions on colours and finishes elevated the whole design. We couldn’t be happier. Wellingtons gave us everything we wanted – and more. The result is a kitchen that’s completely ours.”
