Having been loyal customers of Wellingtons Electrical, our clients didn’t hesitate to trust Wellingtons Kitchens when it came time to revamp their galley kitchen. After viewing the display kitchen in our Electricals shop, they were convinced they wanted to work with us, appreciating both our high-quality products and renowned customer service.
With limited space, they decided to keep the overall layout similar to their original kitchen but were keen on making functional improvements while maintaining a fresh, modern look.
Working with our expert kitchen designer Lorraine, the clients were happy to take her guidance on key decisions that would make the best use of their space while accommodating their specific needs.
The worktops on the left side of the kitchen were slimmed down to create more floor space without compromising on storage. The new worktops still comfortably accommodated crockery but offered greater room for movement—essential in a galley kitchen.
Lorraine suggested a worktop with rounded edges, ensuring safety as the clients aged. Additionally, they selected a material that wasn’t cold to the touch, addressing the client’s concern, as one of them suffered from Raynaud’s syndrome, making cold surfaces uncomfortable.
Small but clever improvements included a designated space for tea towels, helping keep the kitchen organised and clutter-free. These little touches added to the overall functionality of the kitchen.
Lorraine recommended a dual lighting solution: spotlights in the ceiling for bright, focused light when needed and under-cabinet lighting for softer illumination, perfect for evening use. This allowed the clients to adjust the lighting based on their needs, adding both practicality and ambiance.
The original kitchen had a lowered ceiling, which made the space feel cramped. By raising the ceiling, the kitchen felt more open and airy, significantly enhancing the overall atmosphere.
Lorraine also selected a splashback that seamlessly complemented the cabinet fronts and the flooring, tying together the design for a cohesive and stylish look.
The kitchen refresh was a resounding success. The clients now enjoy a galley kitchen that feels more spacious, functional, and comfortable. They were particularly impressed with how Wellingtons Kitchens balanced the aesthetics with practicality, ensuring the space catered to their current and future needs.
“We’re thrilled with how Wellingtons Kitchens transformed our space. Lorraine was fantastic, guiding us on all the decisions. The rounded edges on the worktops, the flexible lighting, and the little details like the tea towel storage have made a big difference in our day-to-day lives. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome!”
